SUMMER IN ITALY

11/30/2017

The summertime is long gone but I am still reminiscing my romantic trip in Italy this summer. Although it was my first trip to Italy, it was one of the most perfect trips I've ever had, so I would like to share with you how I planned the trip and how it worked out.

We travelled to 4 cities in 9 days, Milan was the first stop, and it was a love at first sight! We arrived 7am at Malpensa Airport, the train from the airport to the city central is about an hour ride and is conveniently connected to the city metro. After checking in the hotel, leaving our luggage, we started our tourist trip in this modern, chic and fascinating city.
The must-visit Milan Cathedral is one of the largest churches in the world. You definitely have to go up to the rooftop terraces when you visit this phenomenal cathedral to enjoy an panoramic view of the city and to witness the extreme detail in those characteristic spires which are absolutely stunning and incredible! No wonder the construction of this cathedral took centuries to complete.

Next to the cathedral is the famous shopping center Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II where you can shop the most luxury brands and enjoy the authentic Italian cappuccino under this19th-century iron-and-glass building.

The next day, we met up with our AIMEEKU models, Marta and Alison at this trendy quarter - 10 Corso Como where you can indulge yourself with fashion, music, design, cuisine and culture. How exciting to meet up with friends when traveling!

We were supposed to go to Venice right after Milan, but due to the peek season it was difficult to book hotels there, so we went to Florence instead, to where we took the evening train, and it turned out the train was less packed and price was cheaper as well.
I highly recommend the app GOEURO which you can book the train tickets from your smartphones and just present the booking reference number when voyaging.

Waking up in Florence to a beautiful sunny day, we commenced to explore this Renaissance city. Almost all the tourist attractions are walking distance around the train station, so we didn't have a specific plan, just relaxed and walked around the city which is filled with magnificent architectures, sculptures, art and also fine Italian cuisine.
.
The second day in Florence, we planned to visit the renowned Uffizi Gallery Museum, there was a long queue at the entrance, so we decided to pay an extra reservation fee of €4.00 to skip the line. Be careful not to follow someone who sells immediate tickets at the door, they cost much more than the museum reservation tickets.

Piazzale Michelangelo is a perfect location to adore the sunset and overlook the city, where the atmosphere is assuredly romantic. Watching the sunset while listening to live Italian music, truly an enchanting moment!

We took an early high-speed train to Venice, thanks to the convinient railways in Italy, it only takes about 2 hours to different tourist cities. We were totally astonished to the view when we arrived in Venice. It is a city of water, the only transportation is boat, if you have a lot of luggage like us, I suggest you to stay in a hotel near the train station.

Walking in Venice is like walking in a dream, it's no doubt one of the most romantic places on earth. Every corner is a picture-perfect scene, and my AIMEEKU dresses fit perfectly into this marvelous landscape!

In order to not to miss those small pretty corners in Venice, walking is a better way to adventure than taking the boat. The first day, we planned to go north route and around the island to the Canal Grande, along the way, there were vendors selling from fresh fruit, food, jewelry to carnival mask, you won't get bored walking in Venice at anytime.

The second day, we headed south and all the way to St. Mark's Square. It actually wouldn't take long to walk around the island, but because of all the captivating scenery along the way, it took us the whole day to reach our final destination.

When we finally got to St. Mark's Square, it suddenly occurred a thunderstorm, surprisingly, it turned to a divine ambiance that we were in awe of the great Creator! My flowy dress also danced to embrace this unforgettable moment!

After a long day of walking, we took the water bus back to the hotel, the night view from the boat was overwhelming, we passed by Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, and the Giant Hands, an art installation, called “Support” created by artist Lorenzo Quinn.

Our final stop - Rome, where we arrived in the evening, then we went straight to Vatican city, it's beautifully peaceful to enjoy the sunset time there, the harmonious environment calmed us down from the hectic travel schedule. Afterwards we walked to Castel Sant'Angelo, the dazzling lights and music performance ended our day wonderfully.

Rome is a big, busy city, and the metro system is not quite convenient to travel around different attractions, it's better to GoogleMap the route and transportation before you go somewhere. 3-days tourist ticket is a valuable way for unlimited travel on metro and buses. You definitely can't miss Trevi Fountain when you visit Rome, this impressive Baroque architecture is one of the most famous landmarks of Rome

There are numerous historical sites in Rome, if you want to take a good look at each and every one, you might need at least a whole week to visit, we only had 3 days in Rome, so we just briefly went to some spots to take photos.

We went there at the end of August when was quite a perfect time to visit, for the temperature was not too hot and less visitors. Italy is such a fabulous country to visit, each city has different vibes and recreations, the same thing is its friendly people and delicious cuisine, it surely is a worth-multiple-visit country!
