Being an Asian designer brand, one question that has always been asked is why AIMEEKU is African-inspired? It all started with a traditional African dress as a gift from a friend, our designer Amy Chien Ku just got deeply attracted to the vibrant colorful Ankara fabric and applied it as the inspiration of her designs.
Ankara Fabric also known as “African Waxprints” is a 100% cotton fabric with tribal-like patterns and motifs. As African-inspired fashion is getting more and more influential, we are delighted to see more international designers taking this style into a higher level.

One of our favorites, Haitian-Italian designer Stella Jean, widely uses waxprints in each season of her collection, we just adore how she combines her Creole heritage with classic Italian craftsmanship, and obviously Stella Jean has already become the choice of many celebrities.
