The story of AIMEEKU

I started to have the thought of creating my own label back in 2012 when I was working as a fashion PR, during that time I attended a lot of fashion events, so it constantly stirred up my dream of being a fashion designer. After 2 years of planning and preparation, AIMEEKU was finally established in August 2014. My pastor told me my name Amy is a good name because it means "beloved", I like the spelling of Aimee because it also means "loved" in French, and Ku is my last name, that's how AIMEEKU was created.

The area I grew up in Taipei is a nice exotic neighborhood where there are a lot of foreigners from all over the world, I feel very fortune to live in this area that I’m able to make friends from different backgrounds and cultures, it is something that inspired me the concept of AIMEEKU label that we want to create a world of no borders where fashion is the common language.

One of my friends gave me a traditional African dress which was a simple loose fit. I really loved the fabric and the pattern on it, but it's just not a modern style that I could flaunt with, so I changed it into a spaghetti maxi dress which was perfect for summer and beach time, after that, I started to create more dresses with African fabrics. Whenever I put them on, people always asked me where I bought those dresses, that inspired and developed the style of AIMEEKU.

I get my inspirations from all kinds of art works, exhibitions, movies and travel experiences. I really appreciate any forms of beauty in life, whether it’s a beautiful sunset or blooming flowers.

One of the best things as being a fashion designer is to travel the world in your own design! I love to travel, and I used to be the type of person who plans everything beforehand, but recently I learned that don't plan things so well, because beautiful surprises happen when you least expect them.

I believe one of the definitions of being successful is being able to contribute to make it a better world and to give helping hands to the needy. I hope that one day when I reach a great level I will still remember these intentions
